Our Purpose

At Paralympics Australia, we exist to lead Paralympic sport and create a more inclusive world. We do it through partnerships with governments, business, sporting bodies and the community.

We are responsible for preparing the Australian Paralympic Summer and Winter Teams, which we have done successfully since 1990. At Paris 2024, Australia placed ninth on the medal tally with 18 gold, 17 silver and 28 bronze medals out of 168 countries.

We work with our National Federation partners to identify potential Paralympians, fund the coaching, equipment and travel that gets athletes to the start line, and rebuild national classification.

We believe sport delivers social and physical benefits, and that every Paralympian seen on a screen or in a classroom changes what the community expects of people with disability.

At the heart of it are our athletes, who compete at an elite level and carry the ideals of the Paralympic Movement.
